Apartments in NW Raleigh Burn Down Apartment fire (March 26, 2008) Posted: Today at 2:09 p.m. Raleigh, N.C. — More than a dozen apartments were badly damaged or destroyed by a fire on Wednesday. The flames were first spotted around 1:45 p.m. at the Concord Apartments in Raleigh off of Duraleigh Road. It took firefighters more than an hour to contain the blaze to the one structure. No one was injured. Travis Babb had just gotten home from work when firefighters banged on his door. Babb and other residents home at time all escaped the burning building. The thick smoke, though, forced the evacuation of a nearby apartment complex. The Red Cross and the apartment complex management planned to relocate affected residents to other apartments within the complex. |
