State of the Union Address
By Mike DalyMay 3rd, 2003
Thank you very much members of the fanbase, distinguished guests, and fellow citizens. As we gather tonight, our server is at war, our income is nonexistant, our foodbanks are depleted, and we have no idea what to post about on our webpage, yet the state of our union has never been stronger.(applause)
We recently met in an hour of shock and suffering. In seven short months, our site has created new recipes for starving college students, brought comic relief to the soldiers on the front line, and built a legacy of original artwork.(applause)
Although sometimes we may loose sight of our ultimate goal, or maybe the purpose of a particular post ... uh, ... what was this post about again?
Thank you, God bless. (applause)

State of the Union Apology
By Mike DalyMay 4th, 2003
I think that yesterday's post epithomizes our role in this site: making posts that make no sense and serve as mere excuses for updates. I have fun doing it, but I don't know if you do. I will make ammends by making another post that makes no sense (what you are reading now) and give an excuse for an update. So I wrote another review, this time on Gunvalkyrie. In other news, someone finally took my pictures from Japan to get developed, so sometime in the near (read: distant) future, I should be putting up a new gallery.
To conclude, for all of you out there are reading this after they get to work in the morning because you apparently don't have anything better to do, check out the excellent webcomic Angel Moxie. It's excellent drawing style was inspiring. While you are at it, you can check out the same artist's other comic Rebus: Heroes for Hire, which is also excellent. Peace out.

Please return your chairs to their full, and upright position
By Mike DalyMay 8th, 2003
I saw X2 a while back, and I highly recommend it. I was a big fan of the first one to start with, but I think I enjoyed this one more. I think that the point of this post is to inform you that you should see that movie.
Right, in other news, here is a nifty little sketch I did for this beach project, pretty, huh? Additionally, here is another one.
I know that's pretty lame as far as content goes, but if you feel like coming up with new, inventive crap every other day, please let me know, and I'll post it. Otherwise, stick a sock in it and go to this rather interesting article. That should keep you baffled for a while.

I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I can sleep
By Mike DalyMay 12th, 2003
This little quote is a short phase a friend told me one time (okay, it was his yearbook quote, but it's practically the same). Over time, I realized it had more pertenance to my life than I had previously thought.
Over the years, I have often find myself with some new burning interest I was willing to comit myself entirely to. About a month later, I would realize that I never really wanted to go through all that hastle in the first place, it was just kind of a temporary thing. Even though I've caught myself doing this countless times, I still continue to do it to this day. One recent example would be these movie projects I keep mumbling about. I really wanted to make movies, but now I wonder where all that motivation came from. Then when I look around, I see the same thing happening to other people and their projects. Most people don't even get out of the talking about doing it phases.
Turning back to my life, I realize that I once went on one of these flights of fancy, but it turned out slightly different. The similarity of the rest of my little flings is that it never materialized into anything, but the difference is that I never gave up. I have now been developing amateur video games for 6 years now.
Setting goals for myself has gone a long way towards keeping me involved in my little projects, but it obviously isn't enough to get the projects completed. What am I missing that could make me pursue these projects with enough intensity to complete them? What reason do I have to continue when I have a lifetime of work ahead of me before I can reach any point that can be useful? Why do I devote so much of my life to something that, so far, hasn't yielded any results? If I continue, will it ever yield results?
Most of the time, when I work on my game, I don't want to. I feel like it would be so easy just to do something fun or immediate. I can make an analogy to trying to stay awake after I've already been awake for 40 hours: it seems so easy and gratifying to just lay your head down and give up. You know you had reasons for staying up, but at this point, you are so tired that those reasons are fuzzy and faded.
Another analogy that comes to mind is distance running. Often distance runners pick a milestone that they can see, and make it their temporary goal just to run until they get to that marker. When they reach that marker, they set a new one and keep going. Setting goals for myself is very similar in concept to this. The unfortunate difference is that I don't know my eventual destination, I don't know how far away it is, and I certainly don't know the path. I don't even know which direction to run.
The only thing that I do know is that the only way I can avoid guaranteed failure is to run. So I run, slow and blind, forever.

I hope Wayne doesn't beat me for this
By Mike DalyMay 18th, 2003
I know it's been a long time since I've added an update. I'm sorry. I'm going to be spending a lot of weekends out in the mountains (i.e. no electricity) this summer, so dry spells like this might be more common. I'll try to post stuff on fridays and mondays, though to even it out.
Anyway, back to the point. Well, as some of you may have realized e3 just completed. E3 is a very exciting time for game enthusiasts, and a bunch of games either got my attention, or got my attention more than they already had it. Although there were lots of interesting games across all platforms, I will focus on the xbox selection. Natrually, Halo 2 and Fable are at the front of the xbox list. Unfortunately, those games aren't going to come out until after the apocolypse, so we will need to take a look at some others.
Actually, I don't want to go on forever about all the games I'm excited about - that would take forever. Instead, what I'm going to do is post a couple of trailers of games i think are cool. If Wayne finds out I'm using this much hard drive space and bandwith, he will probably flog me with a coiled up ethernet cable. The risks I take for you guys... anyhow, check these out, they are in no particular order of importance:
Something to take note of is that these are all in quicktime format, so you'll need it to watch them.
If you find yourself asking, 'why do I care about stuff that this guy is interested in?' or 'Why isn't there any actual original content in this post?' Please just forget those thoughts or you will be punished.
Oh yeah, and I am spending my time working on my game engine, hopefully, I can post a demo program soon. Also, I'm trying to make Wayne learn flash so we can get some cool stuff going on.

A stab at regularity...
By Mike DalyMay 20th, 2003
Is what this is. I'm very proud of myself you see, I wanted to make a post on wednesday, so I spent tuesday making stuff to post! I'm not going to refer to today as either because I'm in that grey area that could be either depending on your time zone.
Right, anyway, I was playing with this software synthesizer I have and, once again, found an ancient throw-away project that I could convert to mp3 after a bit of tweaking. I originally wrote this in the spring of 1999, crazy, no? Without further ado, I give you Nameless Opus. Hm... maybe I should come up with a name for it. If you have any suggestions, natrually you should let me know.
Wait! That's not all! Today (and today only (probably) ) you don't just get one tidbit of content update... For a limited (read: indefinite) time, you will get not one, but TWO tidbits of content! What I'm referring to here is a program download that represents the code I finally got working for my game engine. This is just a small portion of the engine, specifically the part that deals with static structures. Really, I don't expect anyone to appreciate the programming that goes into this, but you can at least check out my cool tower. Right, here it is. Just a couple notes first, though (why do I always forget this part till after I post the link?), it's compressed in a zip file, so you'll need to be able to break one of those open, and additionally, it requires you have DirectX 9 installed. Unfortunately, you can thank vsual sudio for an enormous exe size - thanks visual studio.
That's it my little grease monkeys, now come back friday.

Oh My!
ByMay 22nd, 2003
Look at all these updates to the webpage! It's pure madness! I can't take much more of it!
In the past few days I've been working on a message board where you, our beloved readers, can easliy give feedback, comment on our stupid posts, or whine about whatever. Its not too fancy, but I wanted to keep it simple. Please use it, I could have taken a nap instead of working on it.
There are a couple of new recipies up, although right after I posted "Frozen Veggies" I realized that Willow had already taken care of it ages ago. But mine has a list of all the stuff Green Giant makes, so HA! Take THAT you evil monkey!
Alright boys and girls, its time for you to go play now. So head on over to Your Two Cents and spill your guts

oops, sorry
By Mike DalyMay 25th, 2003
I was out of town for the weekend, and I didn't get back in until tonight, hence the lack of update continuity. Natrually Wayne didn't think to post, but Wayne is a busy important guy with other things to do, whereas I am not.
Anyway, considering I was in northern Virginia all weekend (I do not live in northern VA), I haven't had any time to do anything meaningful, however, I will show you somthings I believe are worth showing...
Wesley Monkey Exposed!
Oh yeah, that reminds me ... well, it doesn't really remind me, but I just remembered, so it's kind of like it ju-*SMACK*
Oh, right. I would like to present to you Gotham Girls. This is a little 10 part mini-series of flash movies about the female characters of Batman's Gotham City. Let me get one thing strait: I hate batman, the cartoon show that these little flash movies is based off of is a bunch of crap. However, nothing can keep me from loving this series, mainly because it ignores the most blatant problem with the cartoon: Batman. Anyway, it's the most well done flash I've ever seen. Enjoy.

Man, I'm not being too clever today
By Mike DalyMay 27th, 2003
I was late for work, I sat around and barely accomplished anything the rest of the day, and now I can't think of a title for my post. What a dull day, but I guess everyone has them, so I'd best get relevant or Wayne will whine my ear off about making meaningless posts.
First and foremost, Wayne and I did a little revamping of the messageboards today. Now, each post is accompanied by an icon. They are pretty cool, I think. Everyone should go post some stuff so you can see them, won't it be fun?
Wayne doesn't consider that enough content to warrant posting, so to avoid abuse, I suppose I have to put up something else. I wasn't intending on ever releasing this piece of music I wrote, but I guess I don't have much else up my sleeve, so enjoy it while you can. I present Ios Final Battle.
I wrote that back in my junior year in high school, it was one of the first pieces I ever made. Hope you like it. If you do actually like it, or even don't like it, let me know. I'd appreciate it.
Hopefully I'm going to be learning illustrator soon. I've designed up 3 new characters (not for the website) and I'm going to ink and color them with vectors so that I have the option of making them into posters.
Right that's all. Sorry about not doing any decent art or writing recently, but I've just got other things on my plate. Please come back anyway.
Pretty please?

Foiled!
By Mike DalyMay 29th, 2003
Last night, Wayned said he'd make the post for today because he had pertinent things to talk about and I didn't. As it turns out, he didn't. I am begining to suspect that him telling me that he would post would make me forget about it, so that I wouldn't post useless garble. Well, Wayne, consider yourself foiled!
Now to catch people up with all manner of random uninteresting news. I have been playing with Illustrator recently. It's a much more difficult beast to tackle than photoshop, but I'm starting to get ahold of it. I have a picture to post, but I can't do that from here because I'm at work. Hopefully I'll remember to update and add it when I get home.
I'm designing 3 characters for a student organization I'm helping found, I'll post the pictures once I have them fully Illustratored for any comments and critisizm.
Other than that, I'm leaving once again for the weekend. This time to Virginia Beach. I won't be back until later Monday, so I'll miss a post. I'm sure you can cope.
(Update!) I just wrote a game review for the infamous Metal Gear Solid 2. Check it out, yo!
Ciao
