death-defying laziness

By Mike Daly
August 3rd, 2003

Well, I managed to blunder up another week of updates. With Wayne gone, I forgot all about updating, and over the weekend (which I spent out of town), I didn't think to do anything that I could post. Therefore, this post will just serve as a reminder that I am alive.

I've got another milestone for Project Sunburn on friday, so you will probably be seeing some work done before then. Maybe, that is, I'm not promising anything. We'll just have to see if Wayne can come up with something in time for wednesday.

Right, so sorry, but that's it. If you have something to say about our slackness, feel free to inform us via the feedback form.

Toodles.

My update has meaning

By
August 5th, 2003

... And Willow's doesn't. Haa-ha-ha. Ha-ha-ha-ha.

Not a lot of meaning though. I did a game review for my second purchased Xbox game for the console I don't own. I guess I'll have to buy one at some point. Maybe I'll wait for Xbox 2!

Anyway, here's the review. Happy hump day.

Opening a can of update

By Mike Daly
August 10th, 2003

First and foremost, let me humbly appologize for our infrequent and pathetic updates these past two weeks. As you may know, Wayne went on vacation, and when he got back, we both had a lot on our hands. Oh well, I'm glad that's out of the way - on to the fun.

To get some old stuff out of the way, I started writing a game review a while back, but had to abruptly stop. What I had done is up, but I haven't taken the time to finish it. Feel free to check out Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, a great game.

Additionally, I have been periodically sticking screen captures from project sunburn in the galleries. I decided that the modeling gallery was getting too large, so I split it up in two. Most of the sunburn stuff is in the 'game dev' folder.

While I'm at it, I might as well remind you that Wayne wrote a very good analysis of Tiger Woods. That's worth a read.

On to the meat and bones of our update: Wayne and I took the time to write a sizeable article about a recent experience we had. We barely got out with our lives, so we figured we owed it to the world to warn those that might encounter it in the future. You can learn from our mistakes by reading about them in The Great Pyramids. This rant is a little special because we planned it out together, and then wrote it tag-team style, which worked out quite nicely. We even took the time to tell you at which points we tagged off.

Finally, in addition to all that, Wesley gets back from Japan Today, and Wastrel gets back from France/Hungary on Thursday, so there might be some changes to the way the page runs soon, including, but not limited to, new people giving you updates.

Peace out.

The Inevitable Return of the Great White Dope

By Wesley
August 13th, 2003

I am Wesley Monkey, and this is my first post (applause). I am also a student at NCSU along with Willow and Wayne (applause) and WE LIVE TOGETHER (a lone cricket chirps). I have finally returned from my world travels (quiet reverence) and will be sharing my worldly wisdom (read: useless drivel) with you weeknights at 10!!! (wild applause). not only that my little monkey fans, but i can cook too! (silent awe, followed by ecstatic applause and cheers).

as i have only just returned, i have not been formally added to the site yet, and anything you read about me is misinformed misinformation. as soon as i get around to it, my information will be updated and i will officially be part of the site. thank you for you attention, you may now return to your regular programming. (frenzied applause and cheers on the scale of which has never been experienced by any in the world. pants are wetted, hair is rent, there is much swooning).

I'm getting sloppy

By
August 14th, 2003

I missed an update! I know, I know, I'm starting to go the ways of Willow. Don't worry, there will be at least one more contributor to pick up our slack, maybe two if Wastrel wants in. The only problem is that these two make up like half our audience.

Anyway, I wrote a review of Tropico 2: Pirate Cove. I like it. Read it and see if you'd like it.

We finished up Willow's new room. You know, the garage to bedroom conversion. Threre are some pictures in the snapshots gallery, or you can see them directly by clicking the list of links below. Willow also finished a poster (190k) for the Game Developer's Club. It's original size was 2 feet by 3 feet! I managed to size it down to something you don't have to scroll for miles, but it's still rather large.

Well thats all for this week. Sorry for shorting you a read on Wednesday. Have a good weekend and I'll try to remember to update for Monday since Willow is out until Monday afternoon.

Later.

Introducing the new unbelievable SEARCH!

By
August 17th, 2003

Ok actually the search feature sucks. It doesn't do any kind of sorting by relevance. All it does is look for the existance of the word you typed in. And I stress the word. If you search for two or more words you won't find much of what you're looking for.

Hopefully I'll improve it over time, but for the hour I put into it, it'll do. Right now you can only search for news items or for recipies. Like say if you are in the mood for chicken, you can search for 'chicken' under ingredients (or in the title of a food).

There is also a little bug with hitting the back button to go back to search results. I'll have to look into that when I care a little more.

Well folks, thats all I have for today. And be thankful for that. I had an eventfull weekend with hardly any time to come up with something for the webpage. It's no google, but it does the trick, for now.

Peace out homies

Haiku Debu

By Mike Daly
August 18th, 2003

Once upon a time,
I met a man named debu
he liked to eat cheese.

I went to journey
across the great Pacific.
there, I ate some cats.

I glare at the bricks
of the big, fat, ugly, mean school.
My face falls down hard.

Ouch.

Today, the fourth day
I cannot think very clearly
then my update sucks.

it's easier to just complain

By Mike Daly
August 21st, 2003

Everyone around here sure whines a lot about how crappy my updates are, but it's friday morning, and I don't see anyone else stepping up to bat, so you people will have to deal with it.

So, uh in case you didn't get it, my last post was a set of haiku talking about the return of school, among other things. I used to think I loved going to college. As it turns out I do love going to college, just not going to class.

I'm actually pretty grumpy about the 23 books I have to buy this semester, so instead of posting a big whine about it which will cause me to be inevitably griped at by Wayne, I will just end it with this (which will inevitably get me griped at by Wayne).

New Server

By
August 25th, 2003

The server will be down for the labor day weekend as we are moving to a new deal. I don't really feel like spending my labor day vacation doing computer crap, so don't expect anything up in a timely fashion. Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. There won't be any more updates or site additions until then. When the site is back up and running, everything from before this post will be back exactly as it is now (hopefully).

Sorry for the inconvienence, but I seriously doubt there will be many visitors over the weekend anyway. We'll have more bandwidth, more hard drive space, and more control over what stuff can be done. It's a good move for us.

Until we get it fixed, I'll leave you with this:

Swing in this tree
Oh I am bounce around so well
Branch to branch,
limb to limb you see
All in a day's dream
I'm stuck
Like the other monkeys here
I am a humble monkey
Sitting up in here again
But then came the day
I climbed out of these safe limbs
Ventured away
Walking tall, head high up and singing
I went to the city
Car horns, corners and the gritty
Now I am the proudest monkey you've ever seen
Monkey see, monkey do

Then comes the day
Staring at myself I turn to question me
I wonder do I want the simple, simple life that I once lived in well
Oh things were quiet then
In a way they were the better days
But now I am the proudest monkey you've ever seen
Monkey see, monkey do
Monkey see, monkey do
