GRAND OPENING! ...

By Mike Daly
January 11th, 2004

ok, it's not the grand opening. Wayne told me to say that.

It's been a very busy holiday. To sum things up, we all sat around on our bumcusses and played video games for weeks on end. All this toil was not without purpose, however. We have chronicled some of our celebration in the form of a quaint new gallery.

I got a drawing tablet for christmas. Hopefully, I'll be able to put it to use soon, but for now I'm going to continue working on my motorcycle model.

Now you know what I've been up to. In case that's not enough entertainment, prepare for this freakish(ly scary) delight: Apocomon: bringing the book of revalations alive through the magic and innocence of a pokemon parody.

Whew, that's creepy stuff.

Alright, tune back in wednesday for more goodness.

Change of plan

By Mike Daly
January 13th, 2004

Hey, sorry about the late update. I was talking with Wastrel and we realized that updating 3 times a week is tough. For that reason, we are going to change the update schedule little.

So, we will now update on Monday and Thursday. Since this is effective immediately, I don't even have to finish this post. Expect an update from Wastrel tommorrow or there will be hell to pay.

So yeah Willow is making me update tonight... and I can guaruntee 1000% that there won't be an update waiting on monday as MLK weekend is coming up and The Monkies are heading to the Mountains!!
But in that sense, you can be satisfied knowing we'll have some funny sh.tuff for the next update.

Also coming soon is a new about page and hopefully a return to some cool iconage (depending on Willow and Wayne's aptitude to finish work... muhahahha putting it in an update to force completeion--I went there).

So in the mean time I leave you with some fond memories with an old link to A Modest Destiny and from the Animaniacs.... with "The Monkey Song".
peace

Sublimed

If any of you are unfamiliar with the band Radiohead, do yourself a favor and get familiar with it. They are excellent.

I'm not in much of a writing mood right now. I'm just kind of relaxed and spaced out (thanks to Radiohead), which is not really conducive to the strenuous mental labor such as using the english language in new and interesting ways. For that, I'll just post my content and move on with my mellow.

As you may recall, I got a tablet for christmas. I have been playing with it, and came up with a new piece of art. I present the soldier monk. I did this completely on the computer, no sketching and scanning involved, which was nice. There are a couple of things that bother me about this one, but by the time I realized them, it was really too late (and I was too lazy) to fix them. Oh well, overall I consider it a success.

Finally, I put up a picture that I worked on a very long time ago, but never put up. I actually didn't draw this one, it was done by one of my very talented friends, Michael McCoy. He drew the raw lineart, and I colored the image in photoshop. Here you go: Mike McCoy's guy.

Excellent. Time to return to the mellow.

Boo-hoo-hoo

By Mike Daly
January 21st, 2004

Well, it's thursday, and I haven't done anything since monday except stress out and worry about my "real life".

The Game Developer's Club is in full swing with it's first annual game design contest, which is requiring more initial coordination than I planned. It's still a lot of fun though, and I'm sure it will all pay off when I get to see what the students are able to come up with.

In the meantime, a class I'm taking finally forced me to read something out of a book. Despite my strict anti-literature policy, I was able to enjoy the reading quite a bit. I'm reading a non-fiction book called Angle of Attack, by Mike Gray. Ask me about it later in the semester and I'll let you borrow it.

I'm also having to coordinate some other more troublesome GDC events that I don't really want to bitch about here. The point is that I didn't get any sleep tonight, and I'm in for a day full of classes. Oh well, I was probably going to sleep in class anyway.

Since I haven't done anything noteworthy, I am forced once again to post a random link. This time it's a sweet little song sung by a cat in a little flash movie. Yay. Shii's Song

Guess who's back

... back again. No, its not 'Slim Shady', it's just me. Sorry to dissapoint you.

I'm going to pull a Willow and make this update short and boring, filled mostly with me just talking. Here goes...

So the snow kept me out of class for 2 and a half days and out of work (surprisingly) for a day. Work now sucks because we are behind. I would write a rant about how I spent 5 and a half hours there tonight and will likely do the same tommorow, but I would rather finish this update and go to bed.

Willow just informed me that he added two images to the Art Gallery and Wesley has a "butt load" (as said by Willow) to put up as soon as we remind him of how to do it. I also just bought a digital camera last weekend and have been snapping off random pictures (mostly bad ones that get deleted) so soon enough I'll have some to put up. Hopefully by then I'll have that gallery thing figured out so it can replace the current setup. There isn't much documentation for putting it into your own site, unless you're using phpNuke.

I was going to take a picture of my camera for you to see how cool it is but over the past 20 minutes I've found it rather difficult, perhaps impossible, to take a picture of this camera with this camera. I'll have to draw it I guess.

Oh yeah, post in the message board some so it looks like our site is dynamic. Thanks!
