Just to clarify

By Mike Daly
April 4th, 2004

Sorry about all that crap I said last thursday. I just looked at the date and saw that it was april fools, so I felt like saying something silly.

The truth is this: I still have an unimaginable amount of work to do, and will have no life until either A) I graduate, or B) I die trying.

I guess if I died trying, I still wouldn't have a life. Scratch option B.

Ironically, I did get a digital painting done later that night, but I probably won't post it because it doesn't really fit in and doesn't have a background or anything.

I spent over 12 hours strait working on my game boy game on saturday. I added 800 lines to the program. It was an amazing feat, I felt so accomplished.

There is not really a point to all of this, I just felt like clarifying my last post, and being sunday night, I noticed that nobody else decided to post so I figured I would fill the blank space.

Now go learn how to curse in hebrew!

Trudging through hell

By Mike Daly
April 7th, 2004

The story of my week is a tragic tale. It makes me sad to think about, so I'm not even going to try to summarize it here.

so right now, I'm working on my 42nd hour of consciousness. This is largely due to my history group project, undergraduate research project, and senior project course. In addition to that, I have to organize a joint meeting for the International Game Developers Association and the Game Developers Club of NC State. Although I have finished my immediate work for the first three of those, the meeting is what I'm procrastinating on as I speak. I have several e-mails to write, and I just don't feel like doing it now.

If there is anything that I've learned in my two computer graphics classes, it's that I hate computers. I don't want to ever program again.

Anyway, I haven't done any official artwork per se, but I did go ahead and compile some of my sketches into a little collage. I have been experimenting with new shading methods, and I think they have served me particularly well with the guy's head and the girls body. Any comments are welcome, you can use the messageboard.

Well, that'll be all for now. I'll catch up with you later.

There is nothing to see here

I had a great easter break in the mountains. Didn't get any work done, though. I guess I needed to unwind after my trials last week.

There is nothing new here, as usual, so why don't you piss off

Good broken promises?

By Mike Daly
April 14th, 2004

Early on in the life of this little webpage endevour, I kept promising that I'd do things (like post pictures of stuff like spring break, oops) then not doing them. The fact that I'd never followed through on my word bothered me, so I decided to stop promising to do anything at all.

I recently said that I wouldn't be able to update the webpage regularly, but, ironically, it turns out that this was just another promise that I would never make good on. Despite the fact that I have as much pressure on me as a uranium core during detonation, I keep making updates, as useless as they may be. I think part of this is that when one is doing work for long periods of time (as I have been doing every day for quite a while), one needs to take a break and relax their brain in order to continue doing work. Writing stupid things to imaginary people on the internet is a pretty good stress reliever for me, so that's why I keep doing it.

So today I am proud to announce that my portfolio webpage is finally up! Thanks largely to Waynes help and my bad-ass photoshop skills, the thing is functioning and looking pretty smooth. You can check it out at mike.duelingmonkeys.com. As usual, comments are greatly appreciated. If you have anything you'd like to say, spit it out on the messageboard.

I'm particularly happy with the 'portfoio' section, make sure to chech that out.

By the way, my meaningless posts will be much easier to write in the future thanks to new technology like this.

No time

By
April 18th, 2004

I don't have time to do this. I didn't have time to upload the photos I put in the gallery. And then I definately didn't have time to resize the originals to something you can see on your computer screen. I'll do that later. Much later.

I'm really getting nervous about being able to finish everything required of me by the end of the semester. I just can't get in the groove of things, and every time I get close, I run into a new problem or obstacle. This has to stop soon, right?

Sorry about the images, everything will eventually be moved to the other gallery once we do a site redisign this summer (maybe).

Somebody email me and tell me everythings gonna be alright.

I can do it too

By
April 27th, 2004

Thats right folks, I too can pull the occasional all nighter in the name of education. I have had about 10 hours of sleep in the past two days, and will soon reach my twenty-fourth hour of awakeness. Sure, its no comparison to Willow's 65 hour marathon, but I don't have ridilin.

For the past seven hours I have hardly let my pencil rest. I've been drawing sketches and detailed drawings of a Super Nintendo game cartridge. I also made a complete assebly of the cartridge in SolidWorks. I'll post a picture of it sometime later when I can think straight.

In the meantime, be prepared for more useless updates as next week is exams for all of us and quite frankly, we don't care.

Oh crap I just remembered I need to burn the SolidWorks files to cd. BYE!
