Reality sets in

Well, I have finally returned from my holiday adventures, and … well, … I don’t really have anything new to say. I was thinking of writing another reflection on modern classics concerning final fantasy, but that’s a lot of work and I have two new games to play, so don’t expect it anytime soon. Other than that, the IGDA had another meeting last night. It was great. Um… I’m bored of writing, piss off.

The physics of slack

As some of you may have noted, I had a very stressful end of the semester a little while ago. Right after that, I went on one continuous vacation that was densely packed with activities. Don’t get me wrong, it was an awesome vacation, but I didn’t get any rest or relaxation. Then I got back in the country, got back in town, went to a meeting, and classes were already upon me the next day.

Jan 16, 2003
The monkeys are coming!

This semester’s schedule seems to be pretty slack, which is a radical change from last, one which was desperately needed. Anyway, because of that, hopefully I will find time to do some cool webpage stuff.

Jan 22, 2003
Finally Finished Final Fantasy (phew!)

Well, at least for the first week or so of my new slacker schedule, I have put my time to good use. I wrote an all new Reflection on Modern Classics, and additionally created a comic to accompany it. You may be pleased to view it here

Reluctant return to reflecting on ridiculous rubbish!

I’d just to take a moment to complain about how hard it is to write an article on Final Fantasy that is legible and, more difficult, free of many vulgar obseneties. It’s kind of like saying something ridiculously funny while keeping a strait face – it’s tough. I hope you appreciate how much mental effort I go through to bring you articles that give the impression that i’m jovially looking back at my past mistakes and laughing at them, as opposed to revealing my true burning black heart concerning the subject. Whining like that is what the rest of the internet is for. Although most of you probably already know how full of hatred I already am anyway.

Return to glory

Well, after much trial and tribulation, I have finally gotten my black, wirey, tentacle-like, fingers on a copy of 3D Studio Max. When it rains, it pours. The version I got happened to be 5, and coincidentally, I got it from 3 independant sources all in the same day. My friends finally got it, and gave me a burned disc, I finally finished downloading it on kazaa (took like a week), and I found where Jody had put it in his shared files.

Jan 28, 2003
Trials and Tribulations

I got home today at 6:45 pm. I am supposed to get off of work at 5:00 pm. In case you didn’t notice, there is a slight descrepancy here. Suprisingly enough, only about 77% of this tardyness is due to the CAT bus.

Jan 29, 2003
the internet makes you stupid

Well, it’s 6:37 am right now and I haven’t really gotten any sleep, but I’m not really tired. This sort of unfortunate scenario happens when I have a) homework and b) anything at all else to do (including but not limited to staring at the wall, and watching the carpet peel). This means that I will do ANYTHING else short of inflicting massive self injury to put off doing homework. This could be a good thing because it might motivate me to draw or play with my nifty computer programs like photoshop or 3d studio max, but in this case it hasn’t. Especially no thanks to Jake, I came across some crazy site that has a bunch of flash stuff to watch. I especially enjoyed the e-mail section. Additionally, I recently came across another crazy site! Which also has cool flash stuffs. I said that I would work more on stuff that I could post online, but I suck, so I haven’t. I guess instead, I can post up a picture I did like 1000 years ago (well 3 years ago if you are carbon-dating (no, wait carbon dating is innacurate at small time intervals fool!), I mean computer dating websites (no fool! you are making it worse!), I mean I don’t have ANY dates! (doh! bad Mike… I mean Willow! damn damn), i mean … 3 … years)

Peek at another dimension

Well, Wayne recently helped me aquire a drawing tablet. In case you know not what they are, it’s an interface device with you computer where it puts the mouse cursor wherever you put your pen on a pad. This is helpful for drawing and coloring things in photoshop, which, in case you haven’t noticed, I’m rather fond of. Wacom makes the best, but they are expensive. I’d have to pay about $350 to get a decent, but very small one.

Feb 5, 2003
I need a good slap on the wrist

I seem to recall posting that I was actually going to try to do some work that was postable a couple days ago. Let it finally be known then that this … was a blatant lie.

Feb 6, 2003
New Old Food

Hey folks. Wayne did a little bit of that behind the curtain wizard of oz magic on our web page and got the page separation stuff working for our food lists. I’d like to say that we haven’t added any foods because it would screw up the viewer, but really, we’ve just been lazy.

Feb 11, 2003
Ha! I did some work at work

When it rains, it pours. So I had to sit at the information desk for a significant portion of my job today. This means that I sit in front of a computer answering a phone with some contrived question about the university once about every 15 minues. This leaves a lot of time to do other stuff, and saying as I already exhausted the entire internet, I thought I might add some stuff to the site.

Feb 11, 2003
Update just for the sake of updates

Howdy folks. Have you ever noticed on peoples websites, where they say they are going to update regularly, then the don’t and they miss like a whole week, then they say "it’s because I’ve been really busy at work" or some sort of crap like that? I hate that.

Feb 16, 2003
The Monkeys are coming

Howdy folks. I just wasted an entire weekend doing nothing meaningful (that’s news). I got Capcom vs. SNK 2 and played that a lot, and got to do some serious hanging out with chums. Feeling a little slothful, I thought about what I could do tonight to make up for it. As another ice storm hits us and I probably won’t have to go to school tommorow, I figure I can get something done.

Feb 16, 2003
the monkeys have come

There is good news and there is bad news. I usually start with the bad, but it’s based off the good, so putting it first would put it out of context. Therefore, without futher ado, I present to you:

Feb 16, 2003
Willow, Willow, relax

If you haven’t noticed, Willow likes to post about as much as I like to complain about work. If he would ask, "Hey Wayne, is there a way to convert a wmv to mpeg?" I’d say, "probably, I found a tool that converts wma to mp3 the other day, why don’t you try this handy site; But no, Willow’s first thoughts are, "I’ll go whine about it to all 3 of my readers."

Feb 17, 2003
Once in a blue moon

It’s not too often nowadays I do art just for art’s sake. But today, I did just that. I’m getting a little faster I think. This one only took me a couple hours from concept to completion.

Feb 22, 2003
Galleries at last!

After much time and toil, we have finally programmed the galleries to be beautiful, dynamic, wonderful things. Thanks to the brilliant way in which they were designed, it is pretty easy to make new gallerys, so expect me to post lots of crap like pictures of my feet when I am bored.

Feb 24, 2003
A is for apple, B is for bird, D is for stupid

Probably the only thing that I learned from chemistry is that some things don’t mix well. Over the course of my life I have, in fact, encountered things with just this relationship. Oil and water, girls and video games, salt & vinegar and chips, etc. Now I have another thing to add to the list: homework and webcomics. It is my theory that if one exists than the other does not. Which one exists is a function of who you are. There are two cases here. First case: you are someone who intends on finishing college, in this case you will deny the existence of webcomics until your homework ceases to exist. Second case: you are me, as long as there is an unread webcomic, no homework can be done.

Feb 25, 2003
Desperate plead for feedback

Hey everyone. If there is anyone on earth out there that reads this website, I’d like to hear from you. I know you exist, the webalizer tells me you do.

Feb 25, 2003
Pictures of my feet at last!

Howdy folks. As it turns out, all that homework I stayed up all last night trying to procrastinate from wasn’t due at all. It didn’t even exist. Oops.

Secrets of the intarnet EXPOSED!

It’s time to celebrate! Today, our website passed the milestone of 100,000 hits! Woo-hoo! we are the bombX0R.

Contratulations! And welcome to Stupid Inc.

I am an idiot. This is undeniable. If any of you are not thoroughly convinced of that by now, let me tell you a little story.

More mimesis stuff done

Howdy, I haven’t done a terrible lot in the way of art recently, but I did manage to make myself do some work this morning and got some new models made for the bank-robbery scenario Unreal thing.

Mar 1, 2003
Site additions

So I got an email requesting that for the lazies out there we have an online feedback form so you don’t have to load up a program just to tell us we suck. Also this way its anonymous.

Mar 4, 2003
this post has nothing to do with 'Statistical Inferences'

After getting the galleries up and scanning some old pictures of friends, I was thinking about the good ol’ days, and coincidentally, I got a call from my old high school roomate. He was in town and decided to hang out for a few days. Even with the short notice, I managed to throw together a get-together at Chapel Hill. I got to see lots of old friends, but only remembered later that I should have taken some pictures. Oh well, perhaps I can use that as an excuse to visit again. I had a great time, thanks guys.

Mar 5, 2003
History repeats itself once again

I think that I should make a regular section of articles whenever this happens, for some reason when I’m looking for things to do to keep from having to do my homework and I’ve exhausted every flash site on the entire internet, I just feel like writing an update, I don’t know why.

Mar 7, 2003
Wayne and his Desert Eagle .50

A short while back, I did a comic-book style action picture of myself which was very cool. Just to round out the gallery, I did a little art tonight and made one for Wayne. Unlike mine, I can assure you that this does not look very much like Wayne in real life. Except for perhaps the anger and the handgun. Hope you enjoy.

Spring Break

Early this morning Willow got on his plane to Japan to visit (newcomer) Wesley in Japan. Sounds like a fun trip doesn’t it? Yeah, it looks like this will be a good spring break.

Mar 11, 2003
Dear penpal

I am in Japan right now, it’s really cool here. In fact its extremely cold. I’m freezing. Anywho, be expecting a gallery of crazy japanese pictures soon. Peace out. I’m going to go eat dinner at ‘Hell Kids’ now.

Mar 18, 2003
The virtues of a bathtub too often go underappreciated

I just took a shower, and let me tell you what, it was great! I didn’t have to worry about the shower curtain attacking me and sticking all over my body, or about keeping perfectly still because a wayward step of only an inch would send me toppling over the bathtub wall into the toilet. Yes, my bathtub is enourmous. I feel like I can run laps in it. well, maybe it’s not that big, but it sure feels like it after using the cute little ‘pocket shower’ that I washed myself in for a week.

Mar 20, 2003
Cruel Muses, abandon me not!

Coming up with interesting update subjects is really quite entertaining. I suggest you try it sometime, I’m thinking of adding it to my list of hobbies. Anyway, once again I must declare myself a deciever, it seems to be happening more often these days. In this particular infraction, we shall discuss the subject of the subject (me) dicussing Japan.

Mar 20, 2003
The thirty-first hour

Is when it happened. It is not usual for the wall to arrive this late. I don’t know how many of you are familiar with the physical effects of pulling an all nighter, but it has kind of become on of my hobbies lately. Usually around the 20th hour of consiousness, you "hit the wall", that is, it suddenly becomes extremely difficult to stay awake, this lasts for an hour or two, then passes, and it is not difficult to stay up for the rest of the following day.

Mar 21, 2003
There's a spider

As I’m thinking of what to title this news update, I glance over to my left and see a spider just sitting on the floor, acting like he pays some of my rent. What he doesn’t yet realize is that unlike Willow, I am not afraid of these pests, and my foot is about to inflict a great amount of pain.

Mar 22, 2003
Oops

I think I may have accidentally forgotten to fall asleep again last night. Why do I do this? I am an idiot. In the meantime, I was playing through the demos to Enclave and Dungeon Siege.

Mar 26, 2003
Want some spaghetti?

Wayne’s ladeling privelages have been permanently revoked after this incident. Apparently, he thought it would just be easier to pour out the wet noodles onto the plate when he had a perfectly good ladel there to do it. It’s a good thing the counter, sink, and floor was there to catch it.

Mar 30, 2003
<404 - title not found>

Well, it’s been a couple days since I’ve updated, so I’ll let you folks in on ‘the word’.

I have had 2 consecutive nights of really wierd dreams. Mulitple dreams in one night that have nothing to do with each other.

Wonder of the modern age

I have been trying to cut back on two things: getting to sleep too late or not at all, and posting meaningless things here. This post has betrayed both of those goals.

Apr 4, 2003
I'm embarrassed

I had all day today all to myself to do whatever I wanted. I figured I hadn’t done a comic for the page in quite a long time, so I’d go ahead and do that one for Final Fantasy VIII that I’ve been meaning to. How did it turn out? Absolutely horrible.

Apr 6, 2003
Asphault is black, BLACK!

Well, Filming of "The Crash" took place yesterday, and I am proud to announce it was a dismal failure. Everything seemed to be working out fine. We succesfully filmed our driving and crash scenes. But when we imported our movie onto the video editing device (aka Wayne’s computer), the results were a little dissapointing. By a little dissapointed, I really mean extremely frustrating. All of our shots are just one big white blur. We were filming asphalt for god’s sake! Asphalt is black! Why is our film white?! hold on

Apr 6, 2003
Okay, this is wierd

I was writing my last post at the desk at work. Then I had to move computers, so I just saved it expecting to edit it up in our office. When I get to the office, my partial post shows up on the webpage, but not in the database. This is a little strange to me. Now not only can I not finish it, I can’t fix the blatant spelling error in the title. I guess my only option is to make another post explaining it (hence, now).

Apr 7, 2003
Okay, nevermind

I can’t (and don’t really want to) figure out how to do frame capture without some sort of extra effort, therefore I won’t. The whole thing was just to complain anyway, which I’m trying to keep to a minimum as it is. (I’m not very good at it)

Apr 10, 2003
The new Samus

All my life I have been searching for a wild animal that can execute the coveted screw attack. I had almost given up hope until today (err, actually a few days ago), my search came to an abrupt end.

Apr 14, 2003
Title under construction

Ha! more like ‘entire webpage under construction’! Ha ha ha! Oh wait, that wasn’t funny.

Apr 19, 2003
*bump*

Well, I just realized that Wayne has finally fixed the front page problems i mentioned in my previous post. That means I must post more to bump my old post out of existence. There are still a couple odd things about the archive features, but I’m sure you can navigate them and if not, I’m sure Wayne will iron them out soon.

Apr 22, 2003
This is a call to all you H4X0R5

Some nice internet-savy person decided to use our server to launch some sort of cyber-warfare-thingy (I don’t know the details), and as a result, our server was down and had to get a new OS. Fortunately, all of our content survived, but there are still a few residual effects.

Apr 24, 2003
Ludwig Von Monkey

In our original site design we had a downloads section. Eventually, it became clear to us that we didn’t make enough stuff to warrant such a section, so we removed it. What I had always wanted, though was a place to let people hear my music. I don’t suppose it would hurt that much to just post it here.

Apr 24, 2003
Vincent Van Monkey

I spent this afternoon gathering a lot of my modeling and level design stuff into one place. After getting it in the appropriate format, i went ahead and added it to the galleries. So, you will now find a much expanded modeling gallery. This represents a fair deal of the work I’ve done for mimesis these past two semesters as well as some of the game design stuff I’ve done before that.

Apr 27, 2003
Summer is coming

Yo yo yo. It’s such a beautiful day outside, it’s quite a shame I have to work all day. Sorry, I don’t mean to waste your time telling you things you already know. I especially don’t mean to because Wayne will beat me for making useless posts.

Apr 30, 2003
I'm pissed

.. At myself. I just had a big program due and misjudged the time required to finish it all on time. There was one part that would have taken an extra 2 hours to get right, and it was worth nearly a third of the total program grade. I’ve been working on this all day (about 7 hours) and did some work on it the night before. Yet I still will barely pass this assignment. I got a 100 on the last one.

State of the Union Address

Thank you very much members of the fan-base, distinguished guests, and fellow citizens. As we gather tonight, our server is at war, our income is nonexistent, our foodbanks are depleted, and we have no idea what to post about on our webpage, yet the state of our union has never been stronger.(applause)

May 4, 2003
State of the Union Apology

I think that yesterday’s post epithomizes our role in this site: making posts that make no sense and serve as mere excuses for updates. I have fun doing it, but I don’t know if you do. I will make ammends by making another post that makes no sense (what you are reading now) and give an excuse for an update. So I wrote another review, this time on Gunvalkyrie. In other news, someone finally took my pictures from Japan to get developed, so sometime in the near (read: distant) future, I should be putting up a new gallery.

May 8, 2003
Please return your chairs to their full, and upright position

I saw X2 a while back, and I highly recommend it. I was a big fan of the first one to start with, but I think I enjoyed this one more. I think that the point of this post is to inform you that you should see that movie.

May 12, 2003
I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I can sleep

This little quote is a short phase a friend told me one time (okay, it was his yearbook quote, but it’s practically the same). Over time, I realized it had more pertenance to my life than I had previously thought.

May 18, 2003
I hope Wayne doesn't beat me for this

I know it’s been a long time since I’ve added an update. I’m sorry. I’m going to be spending a lot of weekends out in the mountains (i.e. no electricity) this summer, so dry spells like this might be more common. I’ll try to post stuff on fridays and mondays, though to even it out.

May 20, 2003
A stab at regularity...

Is what this is. I’m very proud of myself you see, I wanted to make a post on wednesday, so I spent tuesday making stuff to post! I’m not going to refer to today as either because I’m in that grey area that could be either depending on your time zone.

May 22, 2003
Oh My!

Look at all these updates to the webpage! It’s pure madness! I can’t take much more of it!

May 25, 2003
oops, sorry

I was out of town for the weekend, and I didn’t get back in until tonight, hence the lack of update continuity. Natrually Wayne didn’t think to post, but Wayne is a busy important guy with other things to do, whereas I am not.

May 27, 2003
Man, I'm not being too clever today

I was late for work, I sat around and barely accomplished anything the rest of the day, and now I can’t think of a title for my post. What a dull day, but I guess everyone has them, so I’d best get relevant or Wayne will whine my ear off about making meaningless posts.

May 29, 2003
Foiled!

Last night, Wayned said he’d make the post for today because he had pertinent things to talk about and I didn’t. As it turns out, he didn’t. I am begining to suspect that him telling me that he would post would make me forget about it, so that I wouldn’t post useless garble. Well, Wayne, consider yourself foiled!

Life is like a whirlwind

Man, you wouldn’t believe how busy I’ve been recently! I haven’t been able to slow down all week, and that’s after taking a few days off work. I’ve been constantly darting between events this past week, which, when combined with Wayne’s disinterest in posting stuff means no updates have been here for a while.

Jun 8, 2003
The Answer

Most of the time, I am bothered by myself when I go a day without accomplishing something tangable. Today in my boredom, I decided to learn about hypnosis. While practicing self-hypnosis, I was very relaxed and began to think about things with a clear mind.

Jun 10, 2003
Desperate for content

I admit it. I’m desperate for content. I’m so boring, I know. I’m just not photoshop handy like our friend Willow. I wrote a rant tonight. It’s not so much of a whinefest as just my two cents (no pun intended), which is just fine since the page it can be found on is under our two cents.

Jun 12, 2003
A little cultural diversity

Wayne and I love to rant about how stupid aspects of our society can be, but now we are proudly able to diversify our pool of complaints to our society AND France. Our senior foreign correspondant in France, Wastrel, has been kind enough to give you all a little insight as to what it is to live in another part of the world.

Jun 15, 2003
Who loves ya?

Well, I just got back from the mountains, and I realized that I promised to update today. Why do I do this? I mean, between Friday and Monday, I mostly sit on my butt or sleep, and I do so far from a computer, so I really can’t ever expect to accomplish anything productive. With this in mind, what am I supposed to do for mondays update?

Jun 16, 2003
Wayne's Wednesdays

We’ve decided to evenly divide the updating, so I’ve picked up Wednesdays and Willow will keep Mondays and Fridays. He’s got lots of stuff he’s working on, so he should have plenty of stuff to post on those days. I should be able to come up with something for a good read on hump days, so I hope this move will improve the site. If it doesn’t, please fill out the Wayne removal form and state a valid reason.

Jun 19, 2003
Broken Promises

You know what? From now on, I should just never say I’m going to do anything. No matter how easy and sure it seems that I’ll be able to do something, I should never tell anyone that I can do it. Why? Because of fate.

Jun 22, 2003
Things to watch out for

You know, I once thought pokemon to be a video game. Thank god that I found this article which revealed to me that pokemon is actually the work of the devil sent from the land of heathens to corrupt our children with sorcery and mind control.

Jun 24, 2003
A new movie!

********** UPDATE! ********** Some people were not able to view the apples video posted below. This is probably because they didn’t have the Divx® 5 codec. This is a free download and is only 3.1 Mb. The compression that Divx offers allows us to host more video to more people, and cuts your download time dramatically. For example, I compressed the apples video from 47 Mb without audio to 3.8 Mb with audio. I think its safe to say that whenever possible, we will be using the Divx 5.0.5 codec and probably Windows® Media Player®

Coming through for Willow

This slacker stayed up all night doing work and then left town without posting it. Well I can’t follow suit and let down on my promise to make sure the content was up, so I’m posting some of what he did and I’ll explain.

"Organization" is misleading

As Wayne mentioned friday, I am trying to start up a student organization – the Game Developer’s Club. As simple as starting a club sounds, it is a very painful process. But, now that I have experience with it, I can give you guys a short little guide to starting student organizations! There are two main ways to go about it:

It's not my fault

So Willow and I had this crazy idea to do some stop-motion animation with this wooden doll he picked up somewhere. It was going to be great! We went through an hour of positioning, taking dozens of photos. Then, it happend. FILE NOT FOUND!!! WHAT! Why not!? The camera said ding ding dammit! Apparently you have to have the camera in the right mode. Thanks a lot Mr. Let-us-borrow-the-camera-guy. Why does your camera have to suck so much? It’s ok. Don’t beat yourself up, I’ll do it later.

Happy fourth

Dueling Monkeys will be closed for the Fourth of July holiday this year. Regular updates will continue monday, July 7th.

Fun Fun Fun

Willow and I almost had more fun than we could handle this weekend. After arriving at Lake Chatuge (at 4:15 am) we of course went to sleep, but the next morning the fun began. Tubing and wakeboarding from behind a new boat, jumping the enormous wake from the aforementioned boat with jet skis, and darting on and off road with dual sports.

Jul 8, 2003
Sign Language

Not much for today, but we do have a short video of some of Willow’s mad skillz. The hand was modeled and animated in 3D Studio Max. It’s for holding a "weapon" in the sunburn project we’ve been mentioning over the past couple of weeks.

Jul 9, 2003
pardon me

Hey guys! I know we’ve been sticking to this whole Monday/Wednesday/Friday format, but I have something to say that I felt like posting RIGHT NOW, so just bear with me a minute, it’ll be short.

Looks like a case of the mondays

For yet another weekend, I managed to get my sleeping cycle turned on it’s head in just 2 days. Waking up at 4pm then having to go to sleep again so you can wake up at 6:30 am the next day is not as easy as it sounds.

Jul 15, 2003
Whoops

I almost forgot to update. Usually it’s done between midnight and 5 am. I got up this morning and realized I’d forgotten.

Looks like he's good for more than just webpages after all

Howdy folks. This friday, I have a nice treat for you. Wayne has put us together a nice little movie for you to watch. It depicts the proper procedure for a surgical operation on a watermellon. May I present:

We have decided to start a couple of new projects here lately.

Jul 22, 2003
I hate computers

I really do. You wouldn’t believe how much computer crap I’ve had to go through in the past 24 hours, everything I try to do hits a wall due to a computer malfunction be it game design, training movies, or fixing critical computer malfunctions.

The aftermath

Thanks for all who came out with me to celebrate my birthday. And thanks also to those who wanted to come, but couldn’t for one reason or another.

All alone

Hey guys. Wayne is out of town on vacation all this next week, which basically means that I will be doing all the updates. At the same time, nobody will be here to remind me to update, which means I might be at work Monday morning, sitting at the info desk and realize that I should update but not have any idea what to show or talk about.

August

death-defying laziness

Well, I managed to blunder up another week of updates. With Wayne gone, I forgot all about updating, and over the weekend (which I spent out of town), I didn’t think to do anything that I could post. Therefore, this post will just serve as a reminder that I am alive.

Aug 5, 2003
My update has meaning

… And Willow’s doesn’t. Haa-ha-ha. Ha-ha-ha-ha.

Aug 10, 2003
Opening a can of update

First and foremost, let me humbly appologize for our infrequent and pathetic updates these past two weeks. As you may know, Wayne went on vacation, and when he got back, we both had a lot on our hands. Oh well, I’m glad that’s out of the way – on to the fun.

The Inevitable Return of the Great White Dope

I am Wesley Monkey, and this is my first post (applause_). I am also a student at NCSU along with Willow and Wayne (applause_) and WE LIVE TOGETHER (a lone cricket chirps_). I have finally returned from my world travels (quiet reverence_) and will be sharing my worldly wisdom (read: useless drivel) with you weeknights at 10!!! (wild applause). not only that my little monkey fans, but i can cook too! (silent awe, followed by ecstatic applause and cheers).

I'm getting sloppy

I missed an update! I know, I know, I’m starting to go the ways of Willow. Don’t worry, there will be at least one more contributor to pick up our slack, maybe two if Wastrel wants in. The only problem is that these two make up like half our audience.

Introducing the new unbelievable SEARCH!

Ok actually the search feature sucks. It doesn’t do any kind of sorting by relevance. All it does is look for the existance of the word you typed in. And I stress the word. If you search for two or more words you won’t find much of what you’re looking for.

Haiku Debu

Once upon a time, I met a man named debu he liked to eat cheese.

it's easier to just complain

Everyone around here sure whines a lot about how crappy my updates are, but it’s friday morning, and I don’t see anyone else stepping up to bat, so you people will have to deal with it.

Wayne wa kami o kittemorata

that means Wayne got his hair cut. i think. my japanese is a little rusty (and by rusty i mean was never there to begin with). so, what have we for you today? pictures of Waynes new do! haircut 1, haircut 2, and yes, even haircut 3!!!

New Server

The server will be down for the labor day weekend as we are moving to a new deal. I don’t really feel like spending my labor day vacation doing computer crap, so don’t expect anything up in a timely fashion. Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. There won’t be any more updates or site additions until then. When the site is back up and running, everything from before this post will be back exactly as it is now (hopefully).

And we're back.

Man I almost forgot how to update! It’s been so long I bet you folks won’t even visit today. It won’t matter much though, because I’m not going to do much other than tell you a few things. I think there are a few recipies to add for Wednesday though. Maybe a rant or two. I should write one about how much I hate doing homework, which I managed to avoid all weekend even though I had plenty of time and plenty of homework.

Its just one of those days

Look in the sky… its a bird… its a plane…. wait acutally there’s nothing there just some clouds (maybe). That’s right turn your head down, a little to the left, and back up… yeah.. ummm that’s it! There on a couch, or laying in a field, or maybe on a sofa… sitting doing nothing and looking like a bum. Yeap that’s right its Wastrel Monkey!!! (Applausometer shoots off the scale)

Time

Time sucks. I have no time. If I wasn’t burdened with the unavoidable obstacle of everyone else’s solar circadian cycles I would live through at least 36 hour days. As it stands I have to constantly put up with 4 hours of sleep just because the idiot that designed daytime didn’t make it big enough.

Sep 16, 2003
Not a day passes

that I’m not able to remind myself of my incorrigible stupidity. For example, Monday night I stayed up too late (specifically all night and the next day) procrastinating from my homework, as I am prone to do. Just last night, I had the brilliance to top that by doing it again. Of course tonight, I didn’t even have pressing homework, I stayed up all night simply because I’m irresponsible.

And the award goes to ...

Wastrel. Congratulations, on your remembering to post today. More specifically, forgetting to post today within five minutes of when you said you would. It takes a lot.

There's a reason you have to be 21 to drink...

It’s because you can’t afford to go out until you’re at least 23, so they only give you 2 years to go into serious debt.

Sep 23, 2003
Wesley writes again!!!

Well, i’ve been absent from the update scene for a while so i thought i’d pop back in to remind you all that i am still alive. i only have one thing of interest for you today. here is Wayne being manly! (and Willow being girly) there is no shortage of entertainment in this house.

Times past

Whilst browsing our site earlier this week, I randomly went back and read the updates from an earlier month (specifically, April, 2003) and noticed a significant difference in how I approached the site.

Personal Record

We had a lot of fun this weekend, those of us, at least, who could comprehend their surroundings (more on that later). For those of you who live with their heads stuck in a gopher hole, the NC State vs. Chapel Hill football game was saturday. If the condition for you not knowing that was true, you must also not have known that NC State STOMPED them.

The eternal battle

I am constatly locked with myself in an eternal debate. On the one hand, I wish to update this site regularly so that the few people who visit the site have at least something new to read when they get bored of their salary jobs each day at about 9 o’clock am. On the other hand, if I am not able to do something in the span of two days that is worthy of significant note, my posts will become repetetive and whiney, with nothing interesting to them. That, and the fact that Wayne beats me horribly every time I do it.

Whats up

Howdy folks. It’s early Friday morning and I’m about to go to bed, but first I’m going to make this little update and read some novel.

Oct 5, 2003
I sank to the level of a preteen

Hey, so its sunday night, we all have work out the bum, and well we didn’t get much of anything accomplished this weekend. Although Sleep is quite an accomplishment, and I definetly caught up on that (especially with random naps which were not planned and just took precious hours out of a good day).

Oct 7, 2003
Sleep is for wimps

I have began a new day with no sleep. Even after a hard night’s work when I thought I was going to pass out from exaustion (I’m sure I spelled that wrong). But alas, here I am, English paper in hand (err, to be printed soon) waiting for the oven to preheat so I can enjoy some Flaky Layers Grands Biscuits along with scrambled eggs. It’s almost worth staying up for.

Scary Monkeys

Boo! It’s Halloween! I had this grand idea of putting the website in style and changed all the blue to orange. Yes, I know that’s a horrible drawing up there in the top left corner, but if enough of you vote it out, I’m sure Willow would take the time to make some half decent looking ones (I made the ugly one).

Oct 14, 2003
I've got something yummy in my tummy

So the update itself will be short, or rather nevermind I’ll tell a little story about today and make it longer. Muhahaha….

Oct 16, 2003
The mad content

Consider yourselves lucky this friday. Us here at the dueling monkeys have been considerate enough to translate little snippets of our life into an amazing digital format for your viewing pleasure. I will divide this update into 3 parts, because we just have that much crazy content today.

Oct 19, 2003
I'm gonna keep this short and sweet.

Let me point out something before I make this update. We update on monday, wednesday, and friday. (most of the time) Which means when we go to post monday, the last post was on friday. To draw the chain of causality out further, this means that the days in between posts are friday, saturday, and sunday. What on earth could motivate us to do real work on any of those days?

Oct 21, 2003
update *post = &monday;

For an explanation of today’s post, see monday’s post. Does nobody else care? I’m begining to think so. I can’t say I’m doing much either so I won’t complain.

Oct 23, 2003
oooh beat ya too it

So Willow will not like the fact that while he plays the devil game, I am posting. Muhahaha…. NO rambling from him this time, and no more complaining about his cool roommates normal desire to eat GOOD FOOD!!!

Oct 26, 2003
I hate doing this

and by this, I do of course mean posting for no reason other than moving the last horrible useless news post down the list. I’m really sorry. I have plenty of excuses though.

November

software engineering, my inherent lack of time, Jiffy Lube ...

and now this semester. These are things that hurt me so much to think about that it infuriates me. Every time one of them comes to mind, my mind fills with rage. Why have the cruel fates allowed such things into my life?

Interesting things happening lately

Last night, I found my self staring at my alarm clock thinking: "I’m going to get six hours of sleep tonight! Awesome!" Then I climbed up into my bed and saw that it was neatly made. This caused me to think a bit because I do not normally (read: ever) make my bed.

Another date, another update

Hi guys. It’s friday and, as usual, nobody has anything worth updating, so I’m here to post a picture, and some random useless link good for nothing but killing time. But that is why you came here in the first place, right? I thought so too.

Nov 9, 2003
Weekend activities

It’s monday morning, and once again, I have to come up with some sort of excuse for not making content over the weekend. Fortunately, this time it’s going to be damned easy because I had a jam-packed weekend full of crazy.

Nov 11, 2003
I'm the only one

who does any real updating around here. I sat down, at 2 am, to make another useless update like our boy Willow, but then thought: "No, I won’t do it. I’m sure there’s something I’ve cooked recently, or maybe I’ve had a bad day, or I drew a picture while I was bored."

They mystery of the dissapearing monkey

and here you are, a mystery update! yes, those hardy boys would love this. so where has our beloved Wesley Monkey been all this time? here’s your first clue, it starts with H and ends in ELL. ‘school work thats more than two weeks overdue hell’ that is (its inbetween the 3rd and 4th levels of regular hell). in fact, he’s still there now. maybe someday he will escape, but the future looks bleak.

Sunburn

Hey everyone! After many trials and tribulations, I’ve finally completed(?) a game mod. Let me tell you, it will be nice to have this off my shoulders. I might even be able to finish coloring that picture I started a while back now.

Looks like somebody has a case of the mondays.

Hi guys. So I stayed up all night last night. This time I was supposed to be reading an article about magical realism. Normally, I don’t read any assignments, so why I chose to try to read this one is beyond my comprehension. To baffle things more, it was a long, boring article that I couldn’t make sense of anyway. I guess you could say that the real reason I stayed up was so that I could read webcomics.

Nov 20, 2003
Sha-ZAM!!!

ok, so here we have another update, yay! go check your pants. todays update will be pretty useless, but hey, aren’t they all? anyway, on to the content!!! Dahn duhn duhhhhhh… we have two links for yous. just a bit of randomness to waste your time. today we have some sexy stuff, so if you don’t like sexy stuff, STAY AWAY! Wizard rubs britany spears carrots with his zucchinis. did i say sexy? i meant WIERD. and also HELLARIOUS. one reader said this was "spontainiously, explosively funny"… and then he died. this is not for the faint of heart.

Nov 23, 2003
Finally, a short break

After a week of crappyness, I think that this next week will be a well deserved break from the usual. No tests, only 2 days of class, only 3 days of work, I’m liking the looks of my schedule.

Nov 30, 2003
The final stretch of the semester ...

is upon us. This means that I only have one semester to go before I am free of school forever. More specifically, free from english. I never have to take an english class again as of one week from today. Hooray!

Its 4:31 AM and i should be sleeping...

…but i’m writing this update instead. now, what have we today for our loving and loyal audience? we have another useless link!!! TokiDoki is completely useless, but its different, and for some reason i like it. look around the site, and enjoy the ambiance.

Very Excited

The computer I have been using for the past year-and-a-half was a spare of Wayne’s. The reason this was necessary is that my computer is five years old. The poor old lass just doesn’t have it in her anymore.

Closed for the holidays

In case you didn’t notice, our terribly informative and relevant updates have been kind of scarce lately. There is a perfectly good explanation for this. Finals. Preparing for finals, taking finals, stressing about the rest of the finals, taking more finals, celebrating completing finals, etc.
